Wayne M Wareing

Wayne M. Wareing, 64, of Firth, Idaho, passed away on June 22, 2026, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, from complications related to cancer he courageously battled for nearly seven years.

Wayne was born on November 14, 1961, in Salmon, Idaho, to Arlin and Maxine Wareing. He was raised in Blackfoot, Idaho, where he attended school and graduated from Blackfoot High School.

On February 21, 1981, he married Jayna Kaye Settles in Blackfoot, Idaho. Together they made their home in Firth, Idaho, where they raised their two children, Shawn and Natalie. Jayna passed away in 2013 after her own battle with cancer. Later in life, Wayne met Lisa Banga, and they were together at the time of his passing.

Wayne was a dedicated leader and active member of many organizations throughout his life. He served as President of the American Shire Horse Association, was a member of the American Dairy Association, and served as a former Event Chair for the Bingham County American Cancer Society Relay for Life, as well as an AYSO Regional Coordinator. He was also co-owner of Dairy Systems Company.

Wayne built a lifelong career in the dairy industry through Dairy Systems, where he became a partner and helped advance modern dairy technology. He took great pride in serving more than 100 dairies across the valley and later trained in robotic milking through Lely Robotics. His work reflected his dedication to innovation, hard work, and the success of the dairies he served.

Above all, Wayne’s greatest passions were his family and his beloved Shire draft horses. He found joy in working with, training, and competing with his horses, from delivering foals to competing in six-horse hitch shows. He was proud to share his knowledge with others, and his dedication to the draft horse community left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Wayne is survived by his son, Shawn Wareing of Firth, Idaho; his daughter, Natalie (Colby) Hulse of Shelley, Idaho; and his cherished grandchildren, Oaklee Hulse and Axle Hulse. He is also survived by his parents, Arlin and Maxine Wareing; siblings, Julie (Darrold) Clapp, Wendy (Craig) Lasley, and Todd (Stephanie) Wareing; and his partner, Lisa Banga, along with her son, Austin and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Jayna Kaye Wareing; his father-in-law, Marty Martindale; and beloved aunts and uncles.

Wayne will be remembered for his love of family, his willingness to teach and encourage others, and the lasting impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at EIRMC 2nd Floor ICU, UCHealth of Colorado, and Eisenhower Health of California for their compassionate care, kindness, and support shown to Wayne and the family during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 26, 2026, at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak, Shelley, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior to services from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Firth, Idaho.
